Morning, after
breakfast, drive from Delhi to Rishikesh (225 km.), en-route
visit Haridwar. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Rishikesh.
DAY 3

RISHIKESH / JOSHIMATH
Morning ,drive
from Rishikesh to Joshimath (altitude 1875 mts.) (253 km.),
en-route visit Devprayag. Devprayag is the confluence of
Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers. Post lunch, further drive to
Joshimath, which is known to be the winter abode of lord
Shiva. Check-in at hotel. Overnight stay in Joshimath.

JOSHIMATH / GOVINDGHAT /
GHANGRIYA
Morning, drive
from Joshimath to Govindghat (altitude 1828 mts), covering a
distance of about 40 km. Further, start trek to reach
Ghangriya (altitude3500mts), covering a distance of about 14
km in 5 hrs. The trek begins by crossing the suspension bridge
over Alaknanda river. The path continues in zigzag manner with
the constant companion Lakshman Ganga gurgling past dense
vegetations and forests. You can have panoramic views of Kak
Bhisundi valley. Ghangriya is the base for both valley of
flowers and Hemkund Sahib (altitude 4329 mts.), which is the
holiest place for the Sikhs. Camp at Ghangriya for overnight.
DAY 5

GHANGRIYA / VALLEY OF
FLOWERS
/ GHANGRIYA
Ghangriya is
nested amidst the giant Deodar trees. Morning, start trek to
reach valley of Flowers. The Valley is spread across in 20 sq.
km., in the upper reaches of Bhyunder Valley, and was
accidentally discovered in 1934 by the British mountaineer
Frank Smyth while returning from Mt. Kamet. The elevation
ranges between 3352-3658 mts. and showcases one of the largest
collection of wild flowers, notable ones being the Himalayan
Blue Poppy, Brahma Kamal, Ranunculus, Jareneyum, Potential,
Dumex etc. Camp at Ghangriya for overnight.
DAY 6

GHANGRIYA / HEMKUND /
GHANGRIYA
Morning, resume
trek to reach Hemkund Sahib (altitude 4329 mts.), covering a
distance of about 5 km. Winding path of the trek climbs upto
high altitude Himalayan fresh water lake with a profusion of
flowers. According to Hindu legend, this lake was created when
Lakshman, younger brother of Lord Rama, shot an arrow in the
ground to extract water for quenching the thirst of Sita, wife
of Lord Rama. The founder of Sikh Religion, Guru Gobind Singh
meditated here.
You can see a temple dedicated to Lakshman and a Gurudwara
(place of worship for Sikhs) The Lake is called Lakshman
Teertha by Hindus and Hemkund by Sikhs. The stream flowing out
of this lake joins the river Alaknanda near Govindghat. Many
Hindu and Sikh pilgrims are seen on the way to the lake. Camp
at Ghangriya for overnight.
DAY 7

GHANGRIYA / GOVINDGHAT /
BADRINATH
Morning , resume
trek to reach Govindghat. Further, drive from Govindghat to
Badrinath (altitude 3100 mts.). Post lunch ,visit the
Badrinath temple which is considered to be one of the holiest
shrines of Hindu religion, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Be present
for the enchanting evening prayers in the temple. Check-in at
hotel / lodge. Overnight in Badrinath.
DAY 8

BADRINATH / RUDRAPRAYAG
Morning, drive
from Badrinath to Rudraprayag(160 km.), with lunch en-route,
covering the distance in about 7 hrs. Rudraprayag is the
confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Check-in at
hotel / lodge. Overnight stay in Rudraprayag.
DAY 9

RUDRAPRAYAG / RISHIKESH
Morning, drive
from Rudraprayag to Rishikesh (140 km), with lunch en-route,
covering the distance in about 7 hrs. Drive onwards and reach
Rishikesh. Check-in at hotel. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.
