  Thrilling Experience - West Sikkim Trek

  Kolkata - Bagdogra - Darjeeling - Yuksum - Bakhim - Dzongri - Thangsing - Simiti Lake - Gochala - Simiti Lake - Thangsing - Dzongri - Tsoka - Yuksum - Pemayangtse - Gangtok - Bagdogra - Kolkata

 

DAY 1 | KOLKATA (FORMERLY CALCUTTA)


Arrive in Kolkata. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Kolkata.


 

DAY 2 | KOLKATA / BAGDOGRA /
            DARJEELING


Morning transfer to airport to board flight for Bagdogra. Further drive from Bagdogra to Darjeeling (Altitude 2134 mts.), covering a distance of about 110 Km. in 5-6 hrs. The route winds its way through vast stretches of Tea Estates. There is a Narrow Gauge Railway Line with Toy Train (miniature version of the train) running parallel, criss-crossing the road at various points. Darjeeling is also called 'Jewel in the Crown'. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Darjeeling.


 

DAY 3 | DARJEELING


Morning visit Tiger Hill to witness sunrise and the best view of the world's third highest mountain Kanchenjunga and other surrounding ice-capped peaks. On the way back visit Ghoom Monastery enshrining Maytree Buddha. After breakfast, proceed for half an hour ride in the famous Toy Train; visit the Botanical Gardens; Observatory Hill; Mountaineering Institute - to know the history and the equipment used by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norge in the first conquest of Mt. Everest; The zoological park to see Siberian Tigers; Lamas; Himalayan Black Bear, Panda; Visit the Tea Estates and Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre famous for handmade woollen carpets and leather products. Overnight in Darjeeling.


 

DAY 4 | DARJEELING / YUKSOM


Early morning drive from Darjeeling to Yuksum (Altitude 1780 mts.), covering the distance in about 7 hrs. Yuksum is the oldest capital of Sikkim where the first king was consecrated in 1642 AD. It also has the oldest existing Monastery built during 1700 AD. Check-in at Trekkers Hut. Overnight in Yuksum.


 

DAY 5 | YUKSUM / BAKHIM


Morning, start the first leg of trek to reach Bhakim (Altitude 3035 mts.), covering the distance of about 13 Km., in 4 hrs. The trek gradually ascends and descends through the dense verdant semi-tropical forests following the Pairag Chu. Check-in at Forest Hut. Overnight in Bhakim.


 

DAY 6 | BHAKIM / DZONGRI


Morning resume trek to reach Dzongri (Altitude 4030 mts.), along a well-marked track, covering a distance of about 12 Km. in 4 hrs. Initial trek is steep ascend, but as the trek passes through fascinating rhododendron bushes running riot with colour, you may not feel the climb. Check-in at Trekkers Hut. Overnight in Dzongri.


 

DAY 7 | DZONGRI / THANGSING


Morning resume trek to reach Thangsing (Altitude 3800 mts.), covering a distance of about 8 Km., in 3 hrs. You can have fantastic view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabri, etc. from the Dzongri Pass on the way. Camp at Thangsing for overnight.


 

DAY 8 | THANGSING / SIMITI LAKE


Morning resume trek to reach Simiti Lake (Altitude 4200 mts.), covering a distance of about 8 Km., in 3 hrs. Simiti is one of the high altitude fresh water lakes found in the blossom of mighty Himalayan ranges. This is also known to be a very sacred lake. Camp at the lakeside for overnight.


 

DAY 9 | SIMITI LAKE / GOCHALA /
            SMITI LAKE


Morning resume trek to reach Gochala (Altitude 5000 mts.), covering a distance of about 14 km., in 5 hrs. En-route from the pass you can see the lofty and majestic Mt. Kabru and Kabru dome etc. Camp at the lakeside for overnight.


 

DAY 10 | SIMITI LAKE / THANGSING


Morning, resume trek to reach Thangsing, covering a distance of about 8 km., in 3 hrs. Camp at Thangsing for overnight.


 

DAY 11 | THANGSING / DZONGRI


Morning, resume trek to reach Dzongri, covering a distance of about 8 km., in 3 hrs. Camp at Dzongri for overnight.


 

DAY 12 | DZONGRI / TSOKA


Morning, resume trek to reach Tsoka (Altitude 3710 mts.), covering a distance of about 9 km., in 3-4 hrs. The trek winds its way down upto Phedong, the start of the rhododendron trail. Overnight stay at Tsoka.


 

DAY 13 | TSOKA / YUKSUM


Morning, resume trek to reach Yuksum, covering a distance of about 5 km., in 2 hrs. Rest of the day is at leisure to visit the oldest Monastery and surroundings area. Overnight stay at Yuksum.


 

DAY 14 | YUKSUM / PEMAYANGTSE /
              GANGTOK


Morning, drive from Yuksum to Pemayangtse, covering a distance of about 30 km. After visit to the Pemayangtse Monastery (Altitude 2085 mts.), which is one of the oldest and important Monasteries of Sikkim, further drive from Pemayangtse to Gangtok, (altitude 1810 mts.), covering a distance of about 110 km., in 5 hrs. Check-in at hotel. Overnight in Gangtok.


 

DAY 15 | GANGTOK


Morning, proceed for a full day sightseeing in and around Gangtok, visit Tibetology Orchid Sanctuary; Do Drul Monastery; Handicrafts Centre etc.Overnight in Gangtok.


 

DAY 16 | GANGTOK / BAGDOGRA /
              KOLKATA


Time free till transfer to Bagdogra airport to board flight for Kolkata.
