Yet another Project
Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan is the Sariska Tiger Reserve about 200
km from Delhi, near the city of Alwar. The area spans some 800 sq
km of dry deciduous forests and has been known for its tiger and
leopard activity. Large herds of sambar and chital can also be
found. Just at edge of the reserve is the Siliserh lake and
crocodiles can be seen basking on the banks.
The area also abounds with places of historical interest. The
Neelkanth temples (6th - 13th century) 32 kms from Sariska, the
Kankwari fort within the park once used to confine Dara Shikoh are
the attractions. There are a series of hideouts and watchtowers to
be occupied before sunset to observe the vast varieties of animals
that come to the watering hole.
