Udaipur is the pearl of India, the entrancing "City of Dawn", The land of the Rajputs, faithful to its glorious history and traditions. Here are lakes that come as a surprise in sandy Rajasthan and forested hills where wildlife still abounds. Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh asn was the capital of Mewar State.

Jaisamand Lake

Jaisamand Lake - (51 Kms) Constructed by Rana Jai Singh in 1691. This artificial lake is considered to be the world's 2nd largest artificial lake. There are beautiful marble "Chhatris" around the dam eash with an Elephant in the front. Nearby is a wildlife sanctuary. 

 
Bhartiya Lok Lala Mandal

A museum of folk art. Puppeteers regularly put on shows here.

 
Eklingi

Eklingi - (22 Kms) Chiselled out of sandstone and marble, a complex of 108 temples enclosed by high walls. Built in 734 these Hindu temples are devoted to the family deity of the rulers of Mewar.

 
Saheliyon Ki Bari - (Garden of the Maids of Honour)

It is a most attractive retreat for the ladies of the Royal Household. Designed by the Maharana Fateh Singh. It consists of beautiful lawns, gardens and fountains.

 
Sola Khamba

As the name suggest, Sola Khamba means 16 pillars. This monument has 16 pillars that support its roof

 
Nagda

Nagda - (26 Kms) The ancient and prosperous capital of Mewar. Even after countless assaults by invaders the two temples of Jas and Bahu still stand.
Jadish Temple - Dedicated to Vishnu, the preserver, this temple was built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1651.

 
Lake Pichola

The beautiful Lake Pichola derives its name from a nearby village Picholi. Udai Singh built a dam and from then the lake has become a meeting place for more than two hundred species of migratory and resident birds.

 
City Palace/Museum

The City Palace and built in 1725 with various palaces inside. Dilkush Mahal, the palace of Krishna Moti Hamahl Sheesh Mahal all ornately decorated. The museum in the City Palace contains incomparable historic and artistic heritage, which dates back 14 centuries

 
Ranakpur Temples - (80 Kms)

One of the biggest and most important of Jain temples in India The main temple is the Chaumukha or "Four faced" temple dedicated to Adinathji and dates back to early 15th century. There are 1444 pillars in the temple and none of them similarly carved.
